Study in physics is a key component of many of NYIT's majors, providing the cornerstone for more advanced courses in technically oriented programs of study. The physics curriculum is designed in conjunction with other majors to help students grasp the fundamental principles of life sciences, electrical, computer and mechanical engineering, and architecture.
The department also offers, in conjunction with the School of Education and Professional Services, a program of study leading to a Bachelor of Science degree to prepare students for teacher certification in secondary school physics education. Government statistics indicate that adolescent education will experience strong job growth in the coming decade, particularly in areas of heavy population expansion and for teachers of science. Your NYIT degree will prepare you for certification and employment in high schools throughout New York and many other states. You will also be prepared for further study in either education or in physics.
