About the Exhibition

"Shanghai at a Glance"

China has undergone some drastic social, economic, political and cultural reforms in the last 20 years. As a financial and economic center, Shanghai has played a pivotal role in propelling the entire country through these changes. Sometimes it is difficult even for a Shanghai native to comprehend the profound developments that have taken place. The goal of this exhibition is to help viewers understand the rapid growth of the city. At the same time, the photos demonstrate a balance between the old and new of the city.

What does Shanghai represent?

  • 1.5% of China 's population
  • 0.06% of land
  • 5% of China 's GDP
  • 13% of China 's Imports
  • 1/6 of China 's port cargo handling volume
  • ¼ of China 's total exports
