(Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression)

Creative expression and undergraduate research with faculty members has become an integral part of a student's educational experience at New York Institute of Technology. The SOURCE is intended to provide a unique opportunity for students to present their research and creative scholarly work in collaboration with faculty members and mentors.

In its second year, the SOURCE has sponsored well over 100 presentations, artistic exhibitions and scholarly papers, each one the product of NYIT undergraduate student achievement and effort.

Lectures in the Arts and Sciences

Each semester, the College of Arts and Sciences sponsors a series of scholarly lectures by members of our distinguished faculty. The lecture series showcases the latest research and scholarship in which our faculty are engaged. Past lectures have covered topics as diverse as the influence of philosophy on Mary Shelly's “Frankenstein” to one man's journalistic adventures at a marathon in Antarctica. These lectures are open to faculty and students alike and are held at both the Manhattan and the Old Westbury campuses.

For more information about the lecture series please visit:

Student Theatre

Students earn academic credit while helping to design and build sets, make costumes, plan publicity, and perform in the department's two productions each year. The Theatre program, founded in 1988, has staged plays as wide ranging as Sophocles's “Antigone” to modern musicals such as “ Pippin.”

In the past two years, the theatre program has staged Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night,” Thornton Wilder's “Our Town,” Giraudoux's “The Madwoman of Chaillot” and Lanford Wilson's “The Rimers of Eldritch.”
