| Varsity teams compete with colleges
throughout New York and in neighboring eastern states under the
governance of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and
the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). |
| NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS |
| NYIT has competed in NCAA national
championships in basketball (1981), lacrosse (1994, 1997 national
champs), track and soccer (1988). |

| While committed to athletic
excellence, the number one commitment is to the academic development
of all students associated with the department. The goal of the NYIT
Athletic Department is to motivate young men and women so that they
can pursue the development of athletic activity that will have a
positive effect on their growth and development. |

| Since 1965, NYIT has been a
strong force in intercollegiate athletics. Student-athletes have earned
All-American honors in men's basketball, men's baseball, men's lacrosse and
men's and women's track. |
