NYIT Defeats Bridgeport 63-51 For Third
Win In Last Four Games
Bridgeport, CT: NYIT defeated the
University of Bridgeport 63-51 in a NYCAC match-up last night. NYIT (10-9, 9-7 NYCAC) played
without their leading scorer and rebounder, Georgia Gordon, but Christina Papadapoulou (Nicosia, Cyprus) led the
lady Bears with a game high 26 points. UB fell to 2-18 on the season, 1-16 in
the NYCAC.
NYIT jumped out to a 29-19
halftime lead as Papadapoulou and Lindsay
Klimkowski (Syosset, NY) combined for 15 first half points. Papadapoulou would score 18
of her 26 points in the second half to hold off a UB comeback and Klimkowski
finished with her first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and
grabbing 11 rebounds. Tamika Cox (long
Island City, NY) chipped in with 9 points and game highs of 13
rebounds and four blocks.
Aliyah Miles and Rosanne
Ortega chipped in with 14 points apiece Bridgeport in the loss.
The Lady Bears return to
action this Thursday, February 6 when they host Adelphi University at 5:00PM.
