Lady Bears Fall To CW Post 67-61

Old Westbury, NY: The CW Post Lady Pioneers Defeated the NYIT Lady Bears 67-61 today in a NYCAC match-up. The loss drops NYIT to 4-4 on the season, 3-2 in the conference. CW Post improves to 4-2 overall, 4-2 in the conference.

NYIT built a 12 point lead midway through the first half, but CW Post climbed their way back into the game over the final 10 minutes and took a 29-25 advantage into halftime. The Lady Pioneers extended their lead to as many as 16 in the second half, but NYIT fought back behind 15 second half points from sophomore Tamika Cox (Long Island City, NY). CW Post’s Noelle Mitchell hit six free throws late in the second half to hold off the Lady Bears, who had cut the lead to four with just 15 seconds remaining.

Cheryll Payne led the Lady Pioneers with 18 points, while Mitchell chipped in with 15

Georgia Gordon (St. Ann, Jamaica) grabbed a season high 25 rebounds and scored 15 points, recording her seventh double-double of the season. Cox finished with a season high 20 points for NYIT.
