NYIT Defeats Molloy College 79-65
Old Westbury, NY: The New York Institute of Technology Lady Bears
(8-8, 7-6 NYCAC) defeated the Molloy College Lady Lions (4-12, 4-10 NYCAC) 79-65,
today. Junior Georgia Gordon (St. Ann, Jamaica) led four players scoring in double figures with a game
high 22 points
Makina Smith (Hempstead, NY) scored 14 points, Tymesia James (San
Antonio, TX) chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Christina Papadapoulou
(Nicosia, Cyprus) scored 12 points and grabbed a season high 12 rebounds.
The Lady Bears took a 29-27
advantage into the half and extended their lead to seven, 38-31, on a Lindsey Klimkowski
(Syosset, NY) lay-up early in the second half. Molloy responded
with an 11-4 run led by Elizabeth Fryer who scored nine of them, to tie the
game at 42-42 with just over 14 minutes remaining. The teams traded the baskets
until the Lady Bears created some breathing room with a 6-0 run, capped by a Papadapoulou lay-up with just seven minutes remaining.
Molloy would get no closer and NYIT knocked down six free throws in the final
minute and half to extend their lead.

scored 15 points and rose Brunno added 16 in the loss
for Molloy.
