St. Thomas Aquinas Defeats NYIT 71-64

Old Westbury, NY: St. Thomas Aquinas College (18-4, 17-2 NYCAC) defeated the new York Institute of Technology Lady Bears 71-64 in NYCAC action tonight. Josephine Alohan scored a game high 26 points for the Lady Spartans.

 

St. Thomas Aquinas built a 34-31 advantage at the half and increased their lead late in the second half to 15 with a 10-2 run. Alohan capped the string of points with her sixth three pointer of the game. NYIT clawed their way back into the game, but they would get no closer than six points.

 

Georgia Gordon (St. Ann, Jamaica) finished with 21 points a game high seven rebounds and seven steals in the loss. Tymesia James (San Antonio, TX) chipped in with 10 points for the Lady Bears.

 

Alohan scored a game high 26 points and Dana Soltis added 14 points in the victory.

 

The Bears return to action this Friday, February 28 when they travel to Queens College for their last game of the regular season at 7:30 p.m.
