Southampton Defeats
NYIT 67-61
Old Westbury, NY: The Southampton Lady Colonials (14-11, 13-9 NYCAC)
outscored the New
York Institute
of Technology Lady Bears (11-14, 10-12 NYCAC) 39-22 in the second half, en route
to 67-61 victory.
The two teams were tied
13-13 midway through the first half, before NYIT put together a 16-7 run over
the final six minutes of the first stanza to take a 39-31 advantage into
halftime.
Through the first 12 minutes
of the second half, NYIT held a six point lead, 53-47, but Southampton, behind 19 second half points from Dani Thomas finished the game on a 20-8 run to win by the
final margin.
Georgia Gordon (St. Ann, Jamaica) scored a team high 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds
and added seven steals. Lindsay Klimkowski (Syosset, NY) chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds.
Dani Thomas was the only Lady Colonial in double figures,
finishing with a game high 26 points. She added five assists and three steals
in the victory.
The Bears return to action
this Wednesday, February 26 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College at 5:00 p.m.
