NYIT Falls To UMass-Lowell 83-41

Old Westbury, NY: The UMass-Lowell Riverhawks defeated NYIT 83-41 in a non-conference match up at Recreation Hall today. Jelena Spiric paced UMass-Lowell with 12 points as they improved to 5-3 on the season. The loss drops NYIT to 4-2 on the year and breaks the Lady Bears four game winning streak.

 

UMass-Lowell held a 36-17 advantage heading into half-time as Spiric scored six of her 12 points. The Riverhawks started the second half with a 20-0 run, held NYIT scoreless for the first 4:28 seconds and increased their lead to as many as 47 points midway through the period.  Dragana Rabota and Sarah Udvardi chipped in with 10 and 11 points respectively for UMass-Lowell.

 

Tamika Cox (Long Island City, NY) led NYIT with 14 points and three blocks.

 

NYIT returns to action on Thursday, January 2 when they travel to the University of New Haven for a 5:00 pm game.
