NYIT Falls To UNH 65-56
West Haven, CT: Freshman Amanda Freeman (Tabernacle, NJ) scored 13
points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the University of New Haven women's basketball team to a 65-56 win over New York Institute of
Technology.
UNH led 33-23 at the half, but
NYIT rallied to tie the game at 47-47 midway through the second period. The
Chargers held on with strong free throw shooting down the stretch, making 21 of
30 free throws in the game.
NYIT, which shot just 28.8 percent
from the field, was led by Georgia
Gordon's (St. Ann, Jamaica) game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tamika Cox (Long
Island City, NY) added nine points and three rebounds for the Lady
Bears. Both team's combined for 29 turnovers in the
game. NYIT suffered its first conference loss of the season as the Bears
fall to 3-1 in the NYCAC (4-2 overall). Kia Nealy (Willingboro, NJ) chipped in with 10 points for UNH which improved to
5-3 on the season (4-2 in the NYCAC).
