The Central Advising Center at NYIT develops, promotes and supports effective academic advising programs. NYIT students receive their primary advising from assigned faculty within their academic department.  The Central Advising Center supplements departmental academic advising initiatives. 

With the assistance of information technology and videoconferencing, based on sound advising and teaching skills, the center provides timely and accurate information about NYIT academic requirements, policies, procedures, and resources.  The center also provides students assistance with the inter-school transfer process and general advising.  

Specific responsibilities of the Central Advising Center include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinating NYIT's Majors Fair

• Coordinating NYIT's Academic Probation Seminars

• Developing online advising resources for faculty, staff and students

• Providing professional development workshops for NYIT advising faculty and staff
