Candidates are required to submit an essay as part of the application. The personal statement must be between 500 – 1000 words and should address the following three short answer questions.
1) Why do you want to become a teacher?
2) The most important responsibility of a teacher is to ensure high academic
achievement for all students. Describe a skill or ability you have that will
help you reach your goal. Provide an example of
how you have effectively used this skill or ability in the past.
Please include in your response any volunteer or employment experience you may
have working with children and/or young adults in high-need communities.
This personal statement provides us with information not captured elsewhere in the application. This should not be a general philosophy of teaching but should offer insight on why you are applying to teach. Candidates should complete the personal statement in a separate word processing document and either upload or copy and paste it when completing the online application form.
