Educational Leadership and Technology
Advanced Diploma in School Leadership and Technology

Program Description

NYIT's School Leadership and Technology program prepares educators to excel in demanding positions such as program director, curriculum coordinator, technology coordinator, assistant principal and school principal. It is the only educational leadership program in New York State to include all the requirements for certification as both a School Building Leader (SBL) and Educational Technology Specialist (ETS ).

The advanced diploma program focuses on the specific knowledge and skills candidates need to make a positive and profound impact on 21 st century schools. A substantive study of data-driven decision-making, leadership, change, organizations, and site-based management empowers candidates to create solutions to the complex challenges they surely will confront during their careers. Integral to these leadership and administrative strengths, the program builds candidates' knowledge and understanding of successful instruction and standards-based curricula. The rapid advances in hardware and software for communications, learning, and administration demand a high level of professional knowledge and judgment in identifying, using, and evaluating educational technologies. Therefore, each program component is technology-infused to develop candidates' technical skills as well as analytic and administrative acumen. The program is conducted in a wireless environment. Given the pressing need for technology expertise in school leaders, School Leadership and Technology graduates enter the competitive market for leadership positions with a significant advantage over those who do not possess these credentials.
