Bachelor
of Science students in English education complete all the requirements
for a B.A. in English except
for the free elective block of 50-51 credits. In its place,
English education majors substitute a 27-credit English education
certification core. They still retain 23-24 credits of free
electives. B.S. in English Education majors also must satisfy
a modest foreign language proficiency requirement for certification
that can be met through examination, prior education, or course
work. The B.S. in English Education is offered at the Old Westbury
and Manhattan campuses of the New York Institute of Technology.
Students at the Islip campus wishing to major in English education
are required to complete their education core at the Old Westbury
or Manhattan campuses.
