Welcome to the Fine Arts Department of NYIT.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to our departmental web pages; a resource that you will find useful as you decide on the direction of your academic endeavor. Our intent is to share our department’s educational vision and career-oriented mission.
While the information presented here is comprehensive, we invite you to visit us in person and get a true sense of our dedication to arts education. I am confident that you will find that our faculty is second to none and that our facilities, including: brand-new classrooms, studios and laboratories in Manhattan; our newly refurbished historic landmark building in Old Westbury; and computer centers with the latest hardware and software, are quite extraordinary. Our most recent addition is a 24 Vicon camera Motion Capture Laboratory located at our Old Westbury facility; read about how NYIT has contributed to the smart design process of the Orion Crew Module mockup being utilized at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center through the use of this new facility. With our Manhattan campus located on Broadway, just across the street from the Time Warner Center, and a few blocks from Lincoln Center, and our Old Westbury Campus located on the Gold Coast of Long Island, we offer the enriching and complementary experiences of town and country campuses.
I am also pleased to tell you about the department's newest undertakings. Our new Master of Fine Arts program offers graduate concentration in Computer Graphics and Animation, Graphic Design, and Fine Arts and Technology. In addition, we recently opened new Fine Arts facilities and programs on NYIT's latest campuses in Amman, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. The Fine Arts department is the first to bring computer graphics and graphic design programs to these rapidly-growing population centers and economic hubs of the Middle East.
In addition to our internationally renowned faculty, our terrific facilities, beautiful campuses and ideal locations, there is so much more to say about our department. But, it is better if you see it for yourself. Should you have questions, please contact us at the listings provided. My door is always open and students never need an appointment to come to chat with the Chair.
Regards and best wishes for your future,
Prof. Peter Voci
Chairperson, Fine Arts Department
