Areas of Scholarly and Artistic Interest:

Daniel Durning is currently promoting digital art and animation through his association with professional organizations in New York City.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, NYC ACM SIGGRAPH he helped to create the MetroCAF Computer Animation Festival and initiate the First Annual New York City Juried Computer Animation Competition open to all Metropolitan Area College Students in 2003 and 2004 and is the Current Organizer of MetroCAF 2005.

Daniel Durning is a member of the Brooklyn Artist Waterfront Coalition and was acting Chair for the “Water Show” held July 2004.


Career Summary:

Daniel Durning is a native New Yorker, artist, educator, and new media designer. Mr Durning has a long and diverse work history, working on various productions since 1984,   in the art departments of many film, video, animation and multimedia production companies. He has worked both full-time for various companies and free-lance on numerous high-end commercial projects including an Oscar nominated film and early website development.

His most recent project was developed in conjunction with MoMA's new ground breaking internet radio station WPS1 where produces and hosts of his own radio show Art and Technology, Discussions with Visual and Sound Artists. His show is celebrating its first year anniversary.

Daniel Durning is dedicated to the promotion of digital art and animation in New York City. Since 1998 he has been an elected member of the Board of Directors of NYC ACM SIGGRAPH, where he has helped to set up numerous events for the NYC computer graphics community. Additionally he was the organizer and Chair of MetroCAF the Metropolitan Area College Computer Animation Festival, 2003 & 2004 which debuted to a sell out crowd in September 2003. He has also writes articles for the NYC ACM SIGGRAPH newsletter I/O and is a contributor to the NYC ACM SIGGRAPH website nyc.siggraph.org.
