What does the Honors Program offer?
If you’re selected for the NYIT Honors Program, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in honors courses and seminars, including special honors sections of core curriculum courses. These courses, which fill your graduation requirements just like regular courses, are designed to offer enhanced intellectual stimulation and fulfillment in an environment that fosters discussion, multiple perspectives and creative problem solving. Other honors program activities and benefits include:
- lecture series with distinguished faculty and visiting scholars;
- cultural and educational outings in New York City and on Long Island;
- social gatherings among honors program students and staff;
- active participation in the honors Students Advisory Board, which supports the honors program mission;
- recruiting new honors program students.
Please note that the Honors Program does not entail extra work. Most honors courses satisfy requirements that all NYIT students must complete. Honors Program students generally find the amount of work in their honors courses to be comparable to other three-credit courses they are taking.
