Eligibility requirements
High school graduates:
Incoming first-year students will be invited to be part of the honors program based on a careful review of the following:
- High school grade point average (GPA) and rigor of student’s high school program (85 GPA or higher)
- Standardized test scores with at least 1100 or higher SAT or ACT composite of 24
- Extracurricular and service activities
- Recommendations
- Expressed interest in joining the honors program (as indicated on application or otherwise)
Transfer students:
Transfer students from another two-year or four-year college may apply to the honors program if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher. Transfer students must have at least four semesters in attendance at NYIT to complete their degree.
NYIT students:
If you are a current NYIT sophomore, an NYIT faculty member may nominate you to the honors program based on your outstanding academic performance with a cumulative GPA of 3.4.
