Pre-law/Law

The department of behavioral sciences offers a six-year combined Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor. This program is available at the Old Westbury, campus.

Attorneys who specialize in criminal law work within the federal, state and local court systems to prosecute and defend those accused of breaking the law. Prosecutors generally work for the government under district attorneys or U.S. attorneys, while defense specialists work either for the government as public defenders or for private law firms. In order to best serve their clients and the public at large, attorneys practicing this specialty ideally have expertise in both law enforcement procedures and behavioral sciences.
