Introducing New Library Staff
We
are pleased to welcome Edmund Jessup as the new evening reference
librarian at NYIT-Manhattan. Edmund has has a Master of Library Science
degree from Queens College with previous work experience at the Katherine
Gibbs School and Queens Borough Public Library. Edmund can be reached at ejessup@nyit.edu.
The Manhattan campus
library is also pleased to welcome Dilia Ortiz, library assistant. Dilia
comes to us from the New York Public Library, where she worked at the Van
Nest Branch in the Bronx. Dilia can be reached at dortiz02@nyit.edu.
Wisser
Library, Old Westbury campus, is pleased to welcome Marianna Healy as the
new library assistant in the Technical Services department.
Marianna has a Bachelors of Music degree from Purchase College and a
Master of Arts degree from Queens College. Prior to coming to NYIT,
Marianna worked at the music library at Queens College. Marianna can be

Bloomberg System
Located in both Wisser Library's main level and the
Manhattan Library's second floor, Bloomberg is a leading information service
for global financial markets. It allows financial professionals to
monitor and analyze real-time market data and place trades. The database
contains descriptions, research, and statistics on more than 52,000
companies worldwide. Historical as well as current financial quotes,
business newswires, the commodities markets, and economic statistics are
also part of this information system.

Manhattan Library Renovation
This past summer, a renovation of the Manhattan Library's
second floor included new carpeting, new paint, new shelving, and
furniture comprising an entirely new layout. The new circulation desk is
streamlined and provides increased functionality, combining reference and
circulation services. Staff also have new workspaces.

New Web Site for Curriculum Materials Center
The Curriculum Materials Center, located on the lower
level of Wisser Library, is a resource for the education program. It provides
curriculum planning materials, professional research materials,
curriculum guides, children's books, textbooks, teacher's guides,
regalia, games, videos, and software related to elementary and secondary

New
Databases: Material ConneXion
Material
ConneXion, selected in support of the interior design and architecture
programs, is a leading global platform with a cross-industry perspective
on materials, sustainable alternatives, and potential uses. This resource
consists of photographs and data about manufacturers and materials from
around the world. To use Material ConneXion, select it from the library's
alphabetical listing of databases.

New Databases: Literature Criticism Online
New
from Gale, Literature Criticism Online is a full-text resource
representing a range of modern and historical views on authors and their
works across eras and genres. It features scholarly and popular
commentary from pamphlets, encyclopedias, books, and periodicals. The
NYIT collection includes Drama Criticism, Poetry Criticism, and Short
Story Criticism. To use Literature Criticism Online, select it from the
library's alphabetical listing of databases.

Databases: CREDO Reference
CREDO
features full-text, aggregated content from 100 reference titles by 55
publishers, with nearly 3 million entries covering every major
subject. Content includes encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries,
bilingual dictionaries, and subject-specific works. Key features
include customizable dynamic data tables, images, and concept mapping
features. To use CREDO, select it from the library's alphabetical listing
of databases.

New Online Tutorials for LexisNexis
LexisNexis
Academic is a major resource for researching business, news, and legal
topics. The full text of more than 6,000 print, broadcast, and online
publications are included. Coverage of many events extends back for
decades. To view four new interactive tutorials explaining the major
features of LexisNexis, please click here.
To search LexisNexis, select it from the library's alphabetical listing
of databases.

ARTstor
Tutorials Available
ARTstor
is a subscription database that provides access to collections of art
images and associated data. Several faculty members are now using the
ARTstor digital library for classroom presentations. To schedule a
tutorial to learn more about ARTstor, please contact Karen Cognato at the
