And the
Winners Are...
|
|
Last spring, the NYIT
libraries randomly selected three prize winners from those who
participated in our survey on EBSCO Host Complete vs. Proquest
Central. Jennifer Wang, Rani Pinnamameni, and Abram Poczter,
Ph.D., each won a $50 gift certificate to Barnes and
Noble. Thanks to everyone who participated and congratulations
to the winners.

Print Control
|
|
|
As part of NYIT's
commitment to sustainability, a new print control system is being
implemented in the libraries and computer labs at the Old Westbury
and Manhattan campuses. The new system aims to eliminate excess use
of paper, toner, and other resources associated with printing.
Each semester, each student at the Old Westbury or Manhattan campuses
will receive an allotment of $50 for printing and/or
photocopying. Anything above that will be the responsibility of
the student, payable via FLEX funds. Please see the chart below for
print/photocopy fees:

Printers: When a student
initiates a print command, the PC or laptop will ask for a
myNYITusername and password. The student follows the system prompts
and proceeds with the print job, which can be retrieved from the
printer when completed. Print jobs remain in the queue for a
short time, so if there is a problem with the printout, it can be
fixed and the job reprinted or the print job can be routed to another
printer.
Copy Machines:
For photocopies, the student swipes his/her NYIT ID card through the
copier card reader and proceeds with making copies.

ARTstore Anniversary
|
In
July, ARTstor celebrated five years of serving the educational and
arts community. From the outset, ARTstor has fulfilled
interdisciplinary teaching and research needs across campuses
worldwide by including images of works that have traditionally been taught
in art history, as well as works that extend far beyond the canon. By
working with photo archives, libraries, and museums, ARTstor has been
able to present an ever-widening spectrum of the visual arts.
