Welcome Class of 2011

On behalf of the Medical Library's staff, we welcome and congratulate each one of you on becoming a student of NYCOM. Library Services

  • Extended hours, open until midnight every evening, more than 100 hours per week;
  • A collection of over 10,000 medical and allied health books;
  • More than 415 current journal subscriptions
  • Multimedia collection of videos, CDs and Audio Cassettes;
  • Remote and on-campus access to an online catalog of holdings; access at bearcat.nyit.edu
  • Inter-Library Loans;
  • Online resources including databases, E-books and E-journals.

Did you know..

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation brings world health information and statistics to everyone in a concise and intuitive format, searchable topics include HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases of global concern. Statistics from hundreds of countries (A-Z) are available in an easy to search and sort format. Globalhealthfacts.org will interest both researches and curious browsers.


Laptops and Reserve books

There are 36 laptops available to borrow for three hours, for use in the library, as needed. There will be a $ 5.00 fine per hour for any laptop that is returned late.

The Reserve book collection of the medical library is only for the use in the library and available for 3 hours. There will be $1.00 fine per additional hour. Only a valid student ID card will be accepted for checkout.

Loansome Doc is a tool to order articles via PubMed searches and the NLM Gateway . You can send your request directly to our Document Delivery Department. To find out how to register click here. In order to obtain the library code to complete your registration contact the Interlibrary Loan Dept. Save yourself time by registering today!


Website Review

Journal Info: It's a new online database developed by Lund University Libraries with support from National Library of Sweden. Journal Info includes information on 18,000 journals from a number of other resources into one place. Please go to Journal Info to discover your favorite scientific journal.

PubMed Gold: It's a tool to search PubMed and Google simultaneously to scour the Web for articles in PDF. Consider using PubMed Gold, to make certain a free copy of an article is not available anywhere before turning to interlibrary loan.


Library Hours

  • Monday - Friday: 8am-12 midnight
  • Saturday: 9am-12 Midnight
  • Sunday: 1pm- 12 Midnight

Due to Labor Day observation, the library hours will be as follows:

  • Friday Aug 31st: 9am-5pm
  • Saturday September 1th: Closed
  • Sunday September 2nd: Closed
  • Monday September 3th: Closed

We'll resume our normal hours on Tuesday September 4th.
