Website Review

ImageBank is developed by the UK-based Centre for Bioscience and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). Its purpose is to provide “freely available images contributed by academics, researchers, industry and individuals with rights cleared for educational purposes.” Donated images, which focus on the biological sciences, are evaluated by the Centre’s subject experts. The site currently features 7,200-plus images. The Image Bank is easy to use, featuring a keyword search and several browse functions such as: Systematic Classification, Common/Scientific Names (alphabetical), Subject, Collections, and Contributor. The site also provides a comprehensive collection of links to other evaluated biological sciences image collections.

Print control

To eliminate excess use of paper, toner, and other resources associated with printing from computers, a new print control system is implemented in the NYCOM library.

On the first day of each academic semester students and employees will receive an allotment for printing. Anything above that will be the responsibility of the student, payable via FLEX funds. To view the chart for printing fees click here.

Medical Mobile Resources

A new libguide to Medical Mobile Resources is developed, and is available through NYCOM library webpage. The new libguide includes selected Apps by mobile devices such as Android, Blackberry, iPod and iPad. To browse the selected Apps click here.
