NYCOM Medical Library staff welcome and congratulate the class of 2016. The Medical library's website, is your gateway to available online resources, journal holdings and much more. The library's newsletter and latest updates will be sent to your NYIT/NYCOM email account bimonthly. We wish you a meaningful and satisfying experience at NYCOM.

Other Library Online Services

Ask A Librarian: Ask A Librarian is staffed by librarians and listed in Quick Links on the library home page. Using this service allows the users to send their library-related question 24/7. NYCOM Library: Rules and Regulations

Laptops: There are 50 laptops available to borrow for three hours, renewals are allowed as needed. A $ 5.00 fine will be charged per hour for any laptop that is returned late.

Reserve Books: The Reserve book collection is only for use in the library and available for 3 hours. A $1.00 fine per hour will be charged if returned late.

ID Card Rules: In order to enter the library and use library materials, please make sure you are wearing your NYCOM ID card. This policy is being observed and enforced at the library. Only a valid student ID card will be accepted for checkout.

Print Control: On the first day of each academic semester students and employees will receive an allotment for printing. Anything above that will be the responsibility of the student, payable via FLEX funds. To view the chart for printing fees click here.

Where should I look for available E-Books?

Access Medicine: Contains more than 60 medical textbooks including Harrison's Online, CURRENT Medical Diagnosis & Treatment, Goodman & Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, Tintinalli's Emergency Medicine, Hurst's The Heart. Also includes multimedia, drugs, guidelines, patient safety, and the ability to download content to a mobile device.

MDConsult: Includes over 50 medical books and journals, clinics, patient education, drugs information, images and more than 1000 clinical practice guidelines.

Thieme E-Book Library:

The Thieme E-Book Library is an online collection of illustrated full-color downloadable textbooks from Thieme’s renowned Color Atlases and Flexibook series, with a user friendly interface, downloadable books, easy navigation, advanced searching tools, and more. AccessMedicine: Case Files

Do you want to prepare for tough questions on rotations and excel at exams? Do you want to apply your knowledge to real-life clinical cases?

Look under "Case Files" a feature in AccessMedicine available via the library web page . The "Toy Case Files" collection within this feature includes 150 clinical cases selected from the renowned LANGE Case Files, viewable by random or focus on a specialty. To go to Case Files click here.

Gallery of Mobile Apps and Sites by the National Library of Medicine

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has released a new mobile app that is intended to serve as the authoritative guide to NLM mobile resources and assists users in finding and using the NLM mobile apps and sites. It includes TOXNET Mobile, PubMed Mobile, DailyMed, Medline Plus Mobile, PubMed for Handhelds, LactMed, AidsInfo, and more.

Graphics Search

The graphics search feature provides quick and easy access to over 23,000 authoritative graphics including pictures, table, figures, graphs, algorithms and movies.

To view graphics, enter your topics in the search box and then select "Graphics" under "All Topics" by clicking on the arrow menu bar :

or if you already are at the search results page, look on the left hand navigation menu to the topic outline and select "Graphics". You will be able to export, print or email graphics as needed.

NLM: Guide to Tropical Disease Motion Pictures

The Tropical Disease Motion Picture and Audiovisual Collection is developed by NLM. The collection includes films, video recordings, and digital video casts produced from the 1920s through 2009, with the majority shot prior to the 1960s. To view any videos, when you are at the home page, select Browse, then click on the title of the motion picture.



Newest Specialty: Psychiatry

Content covers all the major areas of psychiatry — including psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, eating disorders, impulse control disorders, substance-use disorders and personality disorders.

UpToDate is available via library webpage.

  • Monday - Friday: 8am- Midnight
  • Saturday: 9am- Midnight
  • Sunday: 1pm- Midnight

Due to high demand library will be open on Saturday Sept., 1st and Sunday Sept., 2nd from 12 noon to 8pm. The library will be closed only on Monday Sept., 3 observing the Labor Day Holiday.

We'll resume our normal hours on Tuesday September 4th.
