Journal Articles are good sources of current information. The information in journal articles is so current that it may not yet be available in books or reference materials.

Journals are issued regularly (this could be weekly, monthly or quarterly) and are found in the Periodicals Collection of the Library

Other items which are found in the Periodicals Collection include newspapers, popular magazines and trade publications. Click here (html link to next page) for further explanation of different types of periodicals.

Journal articles are generally shorter publications than books. Each issue of a journal will consist of several articles. These articles need not be related to each other by content. The articles themselves often assume some considerable background knowledge of the area and they often focus on very specific issues.
