Students currently enrolled in ELLIS College, and located outside the New York City/Long Island area, may make a special request to borrow books and articles owned by the NYIT Libraries.

To borrow items please:

1. Check the NYIT library’s catalog to make sure that the book/journal is available.
2. Fill in the appropriate web form. There is one form for books and a second form for journal articles.
3. The items will be mailed to ELLIS students, and in the case of books, the ELLIS student is responsible
for mailing the book back to the library, and paying the return shipping costs.
4. Books may be borrowed for 4 weeks, including time for shipping. Items that are overdue will be reported
to ELLIS College and registration in future courses will be held up until the overdue items are returned and fines are cleared.
5. Forms sent with the book(s) need to be returned with the book(s).
6. Book(s) MUST be returned via UPS or certified mail so that the shipment can be tracked.
7. Items must to be returned to:

Wisser Library
NY Institute of Technology
Northern Blvd.
Old Westbury, New York 11568

Books in art and architecture are not available for this service.

If time is of the essence or you do not wish to deal with the mail, you can check WorldCat to see if a book/journal is located in a library near you. If you are unfamiliar with WorldCat, then please view the linked to tutorial. It demonstrates a book search in WorldCat.

WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or other reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. New York Institute of Technology reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright. I agree to comply with these restrictions.
