Netscape is a graphical web browser which allows you to view the pages or sites on the World Wide Web. You must use the mouse to explore the different sites using the clickable links (hypertext) that appear on the screen. To take the full Netscape 6 Tour click here.

Basic Netscape:

Different parts of the browser:
1) Tool Bar
2) Menu Bar
3) Location - Tells you your location or Uniform Resource Locator (URL), the web address you are visiting.
4) Status Bar - Tells you the progress of the browser in accessing the page.
5) Side Scroll Bars - Use these to move within a page

1) Tool Bar

The toolbar is a useful assistant in exploring the web. Some important toolbar functions:
   BACK - View previously visited pages
   FORWARD-After clicking Back, click forward to return to the page
   HOME - Return to the computer's user defined page
   RELOAD- Dowload the page again.
   PRINT- Print the current page on the screen
   STOP - Stop the page from loading

The Menu Bar
The menu bar appears directly above the toolbar. Each section of the Menu pulls down a list of commands. Many commands are identical to those that appear on the toolbar.
    File  The file section displays commands such as:

      Save as - Saves the document to a disk
      Print- Prints the current page
      Exit - Exit Netscape

Saving a Web Page to a Floppy Disk

    From the File Menu, select Save As
    Select the drive (typically drive A) that the disk is in
    Click the small arrow alongside the Save file as type
    Choose either Plain Text or HTML
    Click in the File Name box and type a name for the document
    Click OK
Bookmarks
Bookmarks permit you to save the locations of your favorite sites. You need only click on a bookmark to return to your preferred web pages.

Help
The Help menu displays commands including Frequently Asked Questions about the Browser.

To exit Netscape, go to the file menu and click Exit.
