Carlos J. Magalhaes, DO, graduated on the Dean’s list from Fordham University in New York City in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science.  Dr. Magalhaes earned his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology (NYCOM/NYIT) in Old Westbury, NY.  He completed his Osteopathic Rotating Internship at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York City.  In 2003, Dr. Magalhaes graduated from the Family Medicine Residency Program at Long Beach (NY) Medical Center, where he was named Resident of the Year for 2002-2003. He joined the Department of Family Medicine at NYCOM in 2008.

Dr. Magalhaes is a small-group instructor for first- and second-year students in NYCOM’s Doctor-Patient Relationship and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine courses.  These unique small-group settings allow him to effectively share his medical expertise and experience with students. Many second-year students also benefit from Dr. Magalhaes’ enthusiasm and dedication in NYCOM’s Institute for Clinical Competence (ICC), a state-of-the-art simulated patient clinic

Prior to returning to NYCOM, Dr. Magalhaes maintained clinical practices in Brooklyn and Little Neck, NY.  He is dedicated to the osteopathic medical profession and holds memberships in the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the New York State chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners (ACOFP).
