Greetings

Dear Donor,

Thank you. Your financial support empowers our students and gives NYIT the opportunity to become a model for 21st-century higher education. In these increasingly difficult economic times, your generosity is more important than ever to the lives of our more than 15,000 students. Every dollar you give makes a difference to them and our university.

Moreover, your commitment validates our belief that education will become the global currency that crosses borders and oceans, bringing technological solutions to the world’s most difficult challenges.

In the following pages, you will see how, in the 2007-2008 academic year, NYIT boldly progressed toward the goals we set forth in our ambitious 2030 strategic plan.

As such, you will see the return on the investment you’ve made in us—in the campus improvements, services, academic offerings, and achievements of our students, faculty, and staff members. You will also witness the name we have made for ourselves around the world. In the past year, NYIT has been recognized as a global player in education and technology over and over again … by the No. 1 newspaper in the United States … by a member of President Bush’s cabinet … by world leaders at the United Nations … and by numerous accrediting and licensing agencies.

The soundness of our institution rests in our students. In 2008-2009, our incoming freshmen enrollment is up from last year, especially in Manhattan, and their academic records are solid. Our graduate level programs are flourishing. And, at our College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM), there were 18 applicants for every seat in the class; their academic profile is the strongest it has ever been.

Your continued contributions allow for our continued momentum. This year, as we enhance student services and programs, we will also focus diligently on learning and outcomes assessment to make sure we are where we should be; on continually integrating the latest technology and teaching methods into our classrooms; on synergistically marketing our strengths to all of our constituents; and on maintaining a healthy balance sheet despite the challenging financial markets.

Today, NYIT degrees are synonymous with technology-based, career-minded education that prepares graduates for the challenges of the 21stcentury global marketplace. And when NYIT students earn their degrees, they are part of an international alumni network that stays with them for the rest of their careers.

This has all been made possible thanks to your outstanding support. Your generosity—along with the efforts of our dedicated faculty, staff, and NYIT Board of Trustees—ensures that we will continue to provide qualified students with access to opportunity in a world where technology and human capital will stimulate global prosperity and innovation.

On behalf of NYIT’s students, faculty, and staff, thank you.

Edward Guiliano, Ph.D.
President
