NYIT's Communications team believes that technology can be used to educate the public about solar energy in an environmentally-friendly, effective, and engaging way.
Our message will be delivered across three forms of media.
At the Solar Decathlon competition site in Washington D.C., we will be presenting rich-media content via Symbol Technologies handheld computers. These presentations will feature a variety of 3D computer animations. Each movie will introduce visitors to a key technology or design philosophy that is incorporated into Green Machine / Blue Space.
Next, we are adding mixed media content to our Web site. In addition to presenting the 3D computer (handheld) animations, we are developing audio content in the form of a Podcast. The Solar Energized Podcast will feature interviews with team members, sound-scapes from the construction site, and panel discussions about renewable energy. We are also providing educational material and links to important environmental content with the "Vision" section of the site.
Finally, we are creating a 45-minute documentary about our experiences in this competition. The movie will be completed in the Fall of 2005. Segments from this production will also be available on the NYIT Solar Decathlon Web site.
