Claude E. Gagna, PhD Honored as New Jersey Inventor of the Year

On June 22, 2006, Dr. Claude E. Gagna, an Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences in the School of Health Professions, Behavioral and Life Sciences of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Old Westbury, NY, was inducted into The New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame, which recognizes innovators for advancing the state-of-the-art in their areas of expertise.  Dr. Gagna was honored for his invention of novel technology to immobilize unaltered DNA or RNA molecules onto specially modified microscope slides used in basic biological research and drug efficacy testing.  NYIT was assigned U.S. Patent Number 6,936,461 B2 for Dr. Gagna’s invention on August 30, 2005, and it honored Dr. Gagna by naming him as a Faculty Scholar on March 30, 2006.
