Grading Criteria

 

 

1.      There will be quizzes on: Th. 9/11, Tu. 9/23, Tu. 9/30, Th. 10/16, Th. 10/23, Tu. 11/4, Th. 11/13, Th. 12/4.

2.      The best 6 quizzes will be counted for course grade.

3.      There will be 2 full period exams on Tu. 10/07, Tu. 11/25, Th. and a final exam.

4.   There will be an individual research and writing assignment due on Th. 10/30.

4.      Your grade will be computed as follow:

(i)                  The average of 5 grades:  2 from the full period exams, 1 from the written assignment, 1 from the quizzes

            (see  2 and 3) and the final, each weighted equally.

(ii)                Drop the writing assignment. Compute the average of the remaining 4 grades weighed equally.

(iii)               Take the greater of the two averages computed in ( i ) and ( ii ) as the final numerical grade.

 

5.      A student will receive the highest final letter grade satisfying both of the following conditions:

A final letter grade of F will be assigned if either FNG < 60 or FE < 45. Also note that you may receive a W grade during the first 8 weeks of

class with the permission of the instructor  (withdrawal slip must be signed by the instructor). If  you stop attending classes after the 8th week

and failing, you will receive WF.
